American Friends
For our US supporters, the RWLT will work with you, your financial planner, and the American Friends of Canadian Conservation to ensure your gift will go to work in your adopted Rideau community while generating tax credits that can be applied to your US income tax.
There are many other mechanisms available that will enable you to make a meaningful gift to the RWLT and leave a legacy and preserve some of those special places in our community. Such things as charitable remainder trusts or gift annuities are available. Talk to your financial advisor and the RWLT and together we can structure a meaningful gift that will benefit your community while achieving meaningful tax savings.
You can support RWLT with a contribution that is tax deductible in the US via the following methods:
- Give online using your credit card or PayPal
- Send a cheque to American Friends of Canadian Conservation, 336 36th Street, Bellingham WA 98225 together with your completed grant recommendation, which you can download here
- Donate stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares by contacting American Friends staff at info@conservecanada.org, 360-515-7171
You can conserve your Canadian property through a gift that is tax deductible in the US. American Friends of Canadian Conservation was created to remove the tax and legal barriers that prevented US taxpayers from permanently protecting their Canadian natural lands. Gifts of land and conservation easements to American Friends are charitable donations in the US and effectively not subject to Canadian capital gains. RWLT would partner with American Friends to complete your conservation gift and would be the local land steward.
