On Saturday, August 4th the Locks Rocked, once again at the 9th Annual Rideau Waterway Land Trust Corn Roast.
2nd Annual Boat Parade
The day's event began with the Boat Parade, a flotilla of boats owned by cottagers, residents and visitors, who demonstrated their decorating skills as a kick-off to the days' events. This year, Boat Parade organizers, the Swartz family, had a great turn out with 30 boats participating in the parade. We were pleased to have the following dignitaries join us for this event; M.P. Gord Brown and his wife Sherry; M.P.P Bob Runciman and his wife Jeanette and Mayor of the Township of Rideau Lakes Ron Holman and his wife Betty.
Fast & Furious Sea Trials
Fast & Furious Sea Trials boat building teams, worked to build the perfect boat and win the coveted “Rideau Cup”. U.S.S. Follow Us , built by the Acton Family, sailed to victory with the highest overall score.
Second place was S.S. Karver II, by the McSudderfield Family Boat Builders and third place went to The Great One a creation of the Battersby Family.
And try as they might, some are less than perfect!
